Garrison Technologies Pinpoints Network Security Exposures With Qualys-Powered Online Vulnerability Scanning
New on-demand scanning service integrated with Garrison eNSPECTOR Security Assessment Services suite
Sunnyvale, Calif. — August 28, 2001 — Qualys, Inc., a leading provider of enterprise network vulnerability assessment and monitoring solutions, today announced that Garrison Technologies, a leading network security consultancy, is now providing Qualys-powered online network vulnerability scanning to its premiere eNSPECTOR Security Assessment Services (SAS) clients. As an added feature of Garrison’s comprehensive eNSPECTOR security assessment services, the Qualys service enables companies to identify and assess their network and host security exposures in real time over the Internet.
“Qualys online scanning is a technology that affordably automates and effectively streamlines the process of detecting known technical security vulnerabilities,” said Kelly Dowell, CEO of Garrison Technologies. “More comprehensive and user-friendly than competing solutions, the Qualys service can be used by eNSPECTOR customers any time they wish and as frequently as they choose to guard against the latest security vulnerabilities.”
Garrison integrated the Qualys service into its eNSPECTOR SAS offerings-a comprehensive suite of security assessment, testing, and consulting services-following a six-month business and technology evaluation. Subscribing eNSPECTOR customers can use the new service to rapidly and transparently scan any sized network anywhere in the world with a simple browser command. Within moments of launching a scan, users are provided with secure access to a graphical report that (1) maps the targeted network, (2) pinpoints each security exposure and evaluates its risks, and (3) suggests possible solutions.
As the scanning service is delivered over the Internet, there is no need for costly and complex customer premise hardware or software. Similarly, the Internet delivery model and Qualys’ unique platform architecture enable vulnerability detection signatures to be updated constantly, thus providing eNSPECTOR customers with visibility into new vulnerabilities as soon as they emerge. An average of three new vulnerability detection signatures are added to the service each week, and can be incorporated hourly if necessary.
Garrison went “live” with its Qualys-powered service in August. Integration with the eNSPECTOR SAS suite was accomplished in a in a timely manner using Qualys’ application programming interface (API).
“Security is a continual process, and by integrating on-demand Qualys scanning into its premium eNSPECTOR SAS suite, Garrison is extending its ability to provide ongoing value to customers at an affordable price,” said Philippe Courtot, Chairman and CEO of Qualys. “We are pleased that Garrison recognized Qualys’ technical leadership in remote scanning, our ease of integration and our business strength.”
