Microsoft Internet Explorer is a graphical web browser developed by Microsoft and included as part of the Microsoft Windows operating systems.
This security update resolves vulnerabilities in Internet Explorer. Remote code execution vulnerabilities exist when Internet Explorer improperly accesses objects in memory. These vulnerabilities could corrupt memory in such a way that an attacker could execute arbitrary code in the context of the current user.
Security feature bypass vulnerabilities exist when Internet Explorer fails to use the Address Space Layout Randomization (ASLR) security feature, allowing an attacker to more reliably predict the memory offsets of specific instructions in a given call stack.
An information disclosure vulnerability exists in Microsoft Windows, Internet Explorer, and Microsoft Office when files at a medium integrity level become accessible to Internet Explorer running in Enhanced Protection Mode (EPM).
This security update is rated Critical for Internet Explorer 7 (IE 7), Internet Explorer 8 (IE 8), Internet Explorer 9 (IE 9), Internet Explorer 10 (IE 10), and Internet Explorer 11 (IE 11) on affected Windows clients, and Moderate for Internet Explorer 6 (IE 6), Internet Explorer 7 (IE 7), Internet Explorer 8 (IE 8), Internet Explorer 9 (IE 9), Internet Explorer 10 (IE 10), and Internet Explorer 11 (IE 11) on affected Windows servers.
- Consequence
- Successful exploitation allows an attacker to execute arbitrary code.
- Solution
-

Microsoft Office is prone to the following vulnerabilities:
Multiple remote code execution vulnerabilities exist in Microsoft Office software when the Office software fails to properly handle objects in memory.
An information disclosure vulnerability exists in Microsoft Windows, Internet Explorer, and Microsoft Office when files at a medium integrity level become accessible to Internet Explorer running in Enhanced Protection Mode (EPM).
A remote code execution vulnerability exists in Microsoft Office software when the Office software fails to properly validate templates.
A remote code execution vulnerability exists when Office decreases an integer value beyond its intended minimum value.
Microsoft has released a security update that addresses the vulnerabilities by correcting how Office handles files in memory, improving how Microsoft Office programs are executed from Internet Explorer, correcting how Office validates Office templates prior to use and by correcting how Office handles integer bounds checking.
- Consequence
- The most severe of the vulnerabilities could allow remote code execution if a user opens a specially crafted Microsoft Office file. An attacker who successfully exploits the vulnerabilities could run arbitrary code in the context of the current user. Customers whose accounts are configured to have fewer user rights on the system could be less impacted than those who operate with administrative user rights.

Microsoft XML Core Services (MSXML) allows customers who use JScript, Visual Basic Scripting Edition (VBScript), and Microsoft Visual Studio 6.0 to develop XML-based applications that provide interoperability with other applications that adhere to the XML 1.0 standard.
This security update resolves vulnerabilities in Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office. The vulnerabilities could allow information disclosure by either exposing memory addresses if a user clicks a specially crafted link or by explicitly allowing the use of Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) 2.0.
This security update is rated Important for the following software:
- Microsoft XML Core Services 3.0 and Microsoft XML Core Services 6.0 on all supported releases of Microsoft Windows except Windows 10, which is not affected.
- Microsoft XML Core Services 5.0 on Microsoft Office 2007 Service Pack 3
- Microsoft XML Core Services 5.0 on Microsoft InfoPath 2007 Service Pack 3 - Consequence
- Successfully exploiting these vulnerabilities might allow a remote attacker to obtain information in an attempt to further compromise the affected system.
- Solution
-
Refer to Microsoft Security Bulletin MS15-084 for details.

Microsoft UDDI Services Privilege Elevation Vulnerability (MS15-087)
- Severity
- Critical 4
- Qualys ID
- 91077
- Vendor Reference
- MS15-087
- CVE Reference
- CVE-2015-2475
- CVSS Scores
- Base 4.3 / Temporal 3.2
- Description
-
An elevation of privilege exists in Microsoft Windows when the Universal Description, Discovery, and Integration (UDDI) Services improperly validate or sanitize the search parameter in a FRAME tag. An attacker who successfully exploits this vulnerability could leak authorization cookies or unexpectedly redirect a user to a malicious webpage.
Microsoft has released a security update that addresses the vulnerability by correcting how the UDDI Services encode and validate the parameter.
This security update is rated Important for all supported editions of Windows Server 2008, except Itanium editions.
- Consequence
- The vulnerability could allow elevation of privilege if an attacker engineered a cross-site scripting (XSS) scenario by inserting a malicious script into a webpage search parameter. A user would have to visit a specially crafted webpage where the malicious script would then be executed.
- Solution
-
Refer to MS15-087 for more information.
