Qualys Introduces Per-Scan Pricing for Vulnerability Assessment

Qualys Provides User Flexibility and Cost Savings by Offering Customers Pay-Per-Scan Pricing

CSI Conference — Chicago — November 12, 2002 — Qualys™, Inc., the leader in Managed Vulnerability Assessment, today announced the availability of per-usage pricing, a new pricing structure that allows customers to pay for vulnerability assessment services by the scan. The new pricing structure gives customers greater flexibility and cost savings while evaluating their vulnerability assessment needs. This pricing complements Qualys’ current annual subscription pricing which offers companies unlimited network scanning.

“By combining per-usage pricing with a Web-based service that requires no software to purchase, install, or maintain, Qualys is providing enterprises with a cost-effective introduction to vulnerability assessment,” stated Allan Carey, program manager at IDC. “A per-scan pricing model enables customers to better understand their security needs and establish a security baseline for their networks, then scale towards an annual per IP pricing model as their network and security needs grow.”

QualysGuard per-scan subscription packages, available immediately, range from $4,995 for 250 scans to $149,995 for 100,000 scans. A scan includes one scan of one IP address one time and subscription packages are based on a prepaid annual license fee that is valid for one-year usage.

“As a provider of information security solutions, the security of our own network is paramount to our business operations. QualysGuard automated vulnerability assessment allows us to stay on top of the rapidly growing number of threats without having to deploy any software or maintain hardware,” stated Adam Perrego, founder of Hatteras Consulting. “By providing per-scan pricing, Qualys is giving us the ability to evaluate our exact security needs and implement a security policy that is accurate and fits our budget.”

QualysGuard is a fully automated, Web-based vulnerability assessment solution that employs a proprietary inference-based methodology to assure accurate and complete system detection, outside and inside the firewall. By continuously and proactively monitoring all network access points, Qualys dramatically reduces security administrators’ time researching, scanning and fixing network exposures and enables companies to eliminate network vulnerabilities before they can be exploited while reducing their total cost of ownership.

The QualysGuard service includes: scheduled and on-demand scans; network discovery maps; executive level, CIO, and detailed technical reports; differential reports with trending graphs; differential network inventory reports; full remedy information for each vulnerability; discovery of VPNs and Wireless Access Points; continuous assessment for firewalls and customer support.

“As vulnerability assessment becomes a necessary element for securing enterprise networks, our goal remains focused on meeting our customer needs and making vulnerability assessment accessible and affordable,” stated Philippe Courtot, Chairman and CEO of Qualys. “With our per-scan pricing, we are offering customers a flexible pricing scheme towards reducing their cost of deploying vulnerability assessment to their entire network.”

Combining Qualys’ fully automated Web platform, with its proprietary Inference-Based Scanning Engine, QualysGuard enables enterprises to accurately identify and prioritize vulnerabilities, eliminate false positives and quickly remedy security weaknesses, on both sides of the firewall. Qualys’ KnowledgeBase—the most comprehensive, constantly updated network vulnerability database in the industry—contains over 2000 vulnerability signatures covering over 300 applications on more than 20 different platforms.
