Qualys Joins Forces With the Council on CyberSecurity to Promote the Adoption of Cybersecurity Best Practices
REDWOOD CITY, CA – June 23, 2014 – Qualys Inc. (NASDAQ: QLYS), a pioneer and leading provider of cloud security and compliance solutions, today announced it has joined the Council on CyberSecurity (CCS) as a Founding Member. Through this partnership Qualys will work with the Council to lay the foundation that is urgently needed to create security for all users in cyberspace.
The Council on CyberSecurity is a global, independent, expert nonprofit organization committed to the security of an open Internet; the ongoing development and widespread adoption of the 20 Critical Security Controls (20 CSC); elevating the competencies of the cybersecurity workforce; and the development of policies that lead to measurable improvements in our ability to operate safely, securely and reliably in cyberspace.
“The Council on Cybersecurity’s mission is to promote and sustain the adoption of cybersecurity best practices and make the Internet a safer place. By joining the Council as a founding member, we help bring many of the best practices we have learned from our customers to a much wider audience who can then better defend themselves against cyber attacks,” said Philippe Courtot, Chairman and CEO of Qualys.
Qualys and the Council have a history of collaboration, most recently evangelizing adoption of the Council’s 20 Critical Security Controls as a reference set of tangible methods to address risks to enterprise data and systems. The Controls, which are developed and maintained by an international, grass-roots consortium under the leadership of Tony Sager, Chief Technologist of the Council, provide specific and actionable methods to thwart the most pervasive attacks.
“We have seen a significant increase in the adoption of cloud computing among individuals, businesses and governments. Therefore, the Council is proud to partner with organizations such as Qualys, a leading provider of cloud security, to decrease vulnerabilities in the cloud sphere and influence the implementation of best practices in cybersecurity,” stated Jane Holl Lute, President and CEO of the Council on Cybersecurity.
