Qualys Publishes “Vulnerability Management for Dummies”

Redwood City, Calif. - April 21, 2008 - Qualys, Inc., the leading provider of on demand IT security risk and compliance management solutions, today announced that the company has published the first “Dummies Guide to Vulnerability Management” in conjunction with publisher John Wiley & Sons. This is the first accessible, easy-to-read and independently written guide designed to educate the masses about vulnerability management, which is defined as the systematic finding and elimination of security flaws in an organization’s IT network.

“Vulnerability Management for Dummies” explains the essentials of vulnerability management, educating readers in order for them to select the right tools to manage vulnerabilities automatically, ensuring that their networks are safe from attacks. In five succinct parts, the book leads readers through a basic understanding of vulnerability management and provides a guide to essential best practices, the various options available, the pros and cons of automated vulnerability management as well as a valuable 10-point checklist for removing existing vulnerabilities in the network.

“According to Gartner Inc. and industry luminaries, vulnerability management is the cornerstone of security and compliance best practices. It is an application that requires management, security and audit teams to collaborate with the production team to effectively identify and remediate security and compliance issues in a timely manner,” said Philippe Courtot, CEO and chairman of Qualys. “Our goal in publishing this book in collaboration with our customers, which we are very thankful for, is to provide real-world examples on how to conduct vulnerability management in order to address the security and compliance issues facing many organizations.”
