Qualys Joins Cisco AVVID Partner Program

QualysGuard™ Vulnerability Assessment Service Meets Cisco AVVID Program Requirements for Interoperability

Redwood City, CA — December 17, 2002 — Qualys™, Inc., the leader in automated vulnerability assessment, today announced that that it has joined the Cisco AVVID (Architecture for Voice, Video, and Integrated Data) Partner Program as a Security and Virtual Private Network (VPN) Solutions member. Through membership in the Cisco AVVID Partner Program, Qualys’ QualysGuard™ automated vulnerability assessment service provides Cisco’s customers with the ability to automatically identify and correct network and software vulnerabilities on multiple Cisco devices, as listed below, before they can be exploited by malicious attacks.

The Cisco AVVID Partner Program sets criteria for interoperability testing by independent third parties and is a co-marketing program enabling leading product and services firms to deploy innovative e-business solutions. The program provides enterprise customers with information regarding Cisco AVVID Partner products and services, which an independent testing facility has tested, verified and found to interoperate with a specified version of Cisco networking technology, within the SAFE security blueprint. The SAFE security blueprint provides a comprehensive security strategy for Cisco AVVID networks and utilizes the critical security technologies required to mitigate threats throughout an enterprise’s e-business infrastructure.

“The QualysGuard platform changes the environment for network security, giving businesses a fully-automated vulnerability assessment service that tests enterprise networks for mis-configurations and security vulnerabilities,” said Philippe Courtot, Chairman and CEO of Qualys. “QualysGuard offers Cisco’s customers a service that proactively guards their networks and interoperates with several components of their existing Cisco infrastructure.”

QualysGuard has been tested to interoperate with Cisco’s 10000, 10700, 12000, 7400 and 7300 series Internet Routers; 3810, 3700, 3600 and 1200 series Multi-Service Routers; 3200 and MC3800 Access Routers; 70 and 90 series SOHO Routers; 7100, 7200 and 7400 series VPN Routers; 3000 series VPN Concentrators; 500 series PIX Firewalls; Etherswitch, Catalyst, MGX, LRE, IGX and 2800-4000 series switches; and 350, 1100 and 1200 series Aironet Wireless Access Points.

“It is essential that vendors work to provide interoperable solutions to help companies keep up with the rapid evolution of today’s complex security environment,” said Jason Wright, industry analyst for security technologies at Frost & Sullivan. “Today, QualysGuard Web-based service interoperates with the Cisco products mentioned above making it easier for enterprises to identify and remedy security holes detected during a vulnerability assessment cycle, allowing them to secure the overall network.”

QualysGuard is a Web-based service that is designed to enable businesses to proactively protect their corporate data assets by continuously and automatically auditing their networks for vulnerabilities and suggesting remedies before intruders can exploit them. Companies of all sizes from enterprises to small businesses can have an additional tool to protect their networks, while at the same time radically decreasing the costs to assess, identify, fix, and verify elimination of vulnerabilities.

“Qualys and Cisco support open, standards-based architectures and share a commitment to interoperable solutions. Through this vision, the Cisco AVVID Partner Program delivers the power of choice to enterprises the ability to extend the Cisco end-to-end architecture with our members’ world-class security products and technologies,” said Greg Mayfield, Manager of Product Marketing for Cisco. “With Cisco AVVID partner offerings such as Qualys’ QualysGuard, customers can deploy a broad range of e-business solutions which foster innovation and drive rapid adoption of secure business-critical applications.”

Combining Qualys’ fully automated Web platform, with its proprietary Inference-Based Scanning Engine, QualysGuard enables enterprises to accurately identify and prioritize vulnerabilities, eliminate false positives and quickly remedy security weaknesses, on both sides of the firewall.

Qualys’ KnowledgeBase–the most comprehensive, constantly updated network vulnerability database in the industry–contains over 2200 vulnerability signatures covering over 300 applications on more than 20 different platforms.
