Qualys Hosts its First Annual Network Security Conference: Fortifying Our Networks

IDC Analyst Allan Carey to Keynote Event Attended by Industry’s Leading Security Experts

Redwood City, CA — June 3, 2002 — Qualys™, Inc., the leader in Managed Vulnerability Assessment, will host its first security conference this week, bringing together industry experts, business partners, and customers to exchange ideas and insights about the next generation of security attacks that threaten corporate networks. The conference, “Fortifying Our Networks,” scheduled for Thursday, June 6 through Friday, June 7, 2002 at the Hotel Nikko in San Francisco, will provide a unique opportunity for attendees to preview the latest technologies for prevention of intrusions from hackers, viruses, worms, and trojans.

“As companies increasingly rely upon the Internet to conduct e-business and critical business operations, they are placing themselves at risk from the epidemic of network attacks that jeopardizes digital assets, business continuity, and corporate reputations,” noted Allan Carey, Program Manager for IDC’s Information Security Services practice and the keynote speaker at Fortifying Our Networks. “One critical component of defense for security professionals is staying up-to-date on the latest tools and practices to protect their networks, and Qualys’ security conference is an important venue for them to preview preventive technologies and learn about how their colleagues proactively mitigate network exposures.”

In addition to Carey’s keynote, Qualys executives and prominent partners, including Vistorm, will present the newest threats on the horizon, as well as the latest developments to counter these threats. Current customers of QualysGuard, including Apple Computer, will provide a first-hand perspective of their experiences incorporating the service into their network security policies and processes. Additionally, special interest groups will informally explore a variety of network security-related topics.

“The goal of our Security Conference is to gain a firsthand understanding of our customers’ and partners’ network security concerns to ensure that our development of next-generation solutions aligns with their needs,” said Qualys Chairman and CEO Philippe Courtot. “In an environment of increasing sophistication and frequency of hacker attacks, the conference will also provide a unique opportunity for attendees to share ideas and discuss solutions that prevent network intrusions from crippling their organizations.”

Thursday, June 6, will be an educational day for Qualys engineers and the company’s partners and customers, focusing on emerging industry issues, the QualysGuard architecture and features, upcoming product enhancements, and customer case studies. On Friday, June 7, the partner-only session will review Qualys’ channel marketing programs.
