Alex Serge Vieux Joins Qualys Board

Hi-Tech Veteran and Founder of the ETRE Conference Views Qualys Web-Based Service as Next Generation in Network Security

Redwood City, CA — March 18, 2002 — Qualys™, Inc., the leader in Managed Vulnerability Assessment to secure corporate networks, today announced that Alex Serge Vieux is joining the company’s board of directors. Mr. Vieux brings to Qualys 20 years of experience as a global IT industry luminary, entrepreneur, dealmaker, professor and corporate board member.

“By proactively monitoring network resources with its Web-based QualysGuard™ platform, Qualys is revolutionizing how business protects its mission-critical data assets,” said Alex Vieux. “The only player in the emerging vulnerability assessment category whose technology is built from-the-ground-up to be deployed over the Web, Qualys is delivering the critical front-end monitoring service to secure networks from intrusions that can disrupt business and cost millions of dollars. Every Internet-connected company is vulnerable, and every Internet-connected company would benefit from Qualys’ solution.”

Qualys’ advanced Web-based Managed Vulnerability Assessment platform, QualysGuard, fundamentally changes the way network security operates, enabling businesses to avert disaster by proactively monitoring their networks for disabling hackers and worms. Managed Vulnerability Assessment secures networks, hosts and desktop PCs through automated scans that produce concise management reports, enabling better identification and elimination of vulnerabilities. Companies of all sizes -from enterprise to small business- can protect their network resources, while at the same time radically decreasing the costs to assess, identify, fix, and verify elimination of vulnerabilities.

“Attracting Alex Vieux to our Board is a great coup for Qualys,” noted Philippe Courtot, Chairman and CEO of Qualys, Inc. “Named two years in a row to Time Europe’s Digital 25, the people ‘doing the most to shape Europe’s technology future,’ Alex is a global technology catalyst, bringing together leading high-tech CEOs at his renowned conferences. As a director of Check Point Software, Alex is at the center of the security industry space. His in-depth knowledge of the security market, international perspective, and broad business acumen are invaluable assets for Qualys.”

Alex Vieux is the Founder, Chairman and CEO of DASAR, Inc., a leading global information technology accelerator for startups and producer of invitation-only CEO events, including ETRE, ATRE and METRE (European / Asian / Mediterranean Technology Roundtable Exhibitions). He built two successful software companies focused on the banking industry, CATS and Renaissance Software, and amongst his public service contributions has been the chairmanship of Infotech, the French IT commission. During Vieux’s diverse career he has also taught economics at the Université de Paris-La Sorbonne, worked as a consultant for Andersen Consulting, and served as the U.S. business correspondent for the French daily Le Monde.

Vieux has been a board member of Tandem Computers and is a current director of BVRP Software (Euro Nouveau Marché), Check Point Software [NASDAQ: CHKP], Commerce One [NASDAQ: CMRC], Thrunet [NASDAQ: KOREA], and White Pajama. He is a graduate of the Institut d’Études Politiques and the French business school HEC, and he also holds a law degree from the Université de Paris and an MBA from Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business, where he was a Fulbright Scholar.
