Qualys Delivering Online Vulnerability Assessment Tutorial For Secure Virtual Private Networks

Sponsors eight-city Network World seminar series: “VPNs…Guiding Your Way Toward Network Security.”

Sunnyvale, Calif. — August 30, 2001 — Qualys™, Inc., a leading provider of enterprise network vulnerability assessment and monitoring solutions, today announced that it is co-sponsoring an eight-city seminar tour across North America this Fall focusing on the implementation of secure Virtual Private Networks (VPNs). Produced by Network World and entitled “VPNs…Guiding Your Way Toward Network Security,” the seminars will include a tutorial from Qualys on how online network vulnerability scanning provides VPNs of all sizes with a proactive and perpetually up-to-date defense against would-be intruders.

Designed for CIOs, top IS and network management, network architects, and network security personnel, the day-long seminars will delve into such topics as securing remote connections and emerging technologies and tools for authentication and authorization. Dates for the eight city tour include:

· 10/23/01 Dallas, TX
· 10/24/01 Chicago, IL
· 10/25/01 Detroit, MI
· 10/30/01 San Francisco, CA
· 10/31/01 Irvine, CA
· 11/27/01 New York, NY
· 11/28/01 Washington, DC
· 11/29/01 Framingham, MA

The Qualys portion of the seminars will examine the economics of Internet-delivered vulnerability scanning services versus traditional hardware and software based assessment technologies. Qualys will also discuss how the new online scanning model delivers a unique “hacker’s eye-view” of network vulnerabilities and ensures constantly up-to-date protection-with new vulnerability detection signatures able to be deployed to customers literally on an hour to hour basis.

“VPNs, for all their value, do not provide continuous security right out of the box,” said Philippe Courtot, Chairman and CEO of Qualys. “New security exposures are constantly developing and companies investing in VPNs to safeguard their information have to take a proactive stance against emerging threats. Automatic and cost-effective, online vulnerability scanning services enable businesses to secure their networks on a continuous basis and thus derive maximum return from VPN investments.”
