BROOMFIELD, Colo. - eSoft Inc. (NASDAQ: ESFT — August 27, 2001 — today announced Security Check, a new SoftPakä application which provides companies the ability to scan their network for IT security vulnerabilities. eSoft has partnered with Qualys, Inc. to offer Security Check for the InstaGateä EX2 Internet security appliances.
Available immediately, Security Check is an automated network security assessment service that routinely scans for “security holes” in a company’s network. Powered by the Qualys network vulnerability scanning platform, Security Check pinpoints technical security exposures, assesses their risks, and makes recommendations on corrective actions. As companies may open up holes in their firewall to allow access to internal or DMZ servers, Security Check scans those services as well and reports on the risk of network intrusion.
“Security Check provides our customers with a proven solution for security vulnerability scanning,” said Dave Aylesworth, product manager for eSoft. “Because of its ease of integration and advanced scanning engine, it is an ideal complement to our SoftPak program.”
Security Check also keeps current of the latest vulnerabilities and continues to add new threats to its database on a regular basis. Security Check is an annual subscription service and the introductory pricing will provide customers with one year of unlimited network scans that can be scheduled on a daily, weekly or monthly basis to ensure routine security checks.
“Security Check will enable customers to comprehensively probe their networks for security holes using the most up-to-date vulnerability detection signatures,” said Philippe Courtot, Chairman and CEO of Qualys. “Armed with a hacker’s eye view of their network vulnerabilities, companies can address those exposures before intruders take advantage of them. We are pleased that eSoft has selected Qualys technology as they are known for developing innovative and highly effective ways of providing customers with the best security tools available.”
Security Check is one of several SoftPaks available from eSoft. SoftPaks are delivered with a single touch of a button from a desktop computer through eSoft’s innovative patent-pending SoftPak Director system.
