Qualys Selected To Power Mercury Interactive's Online Network Vulnerability Scans

New ActiveTest SecureCheck Service Integrates New-Generation Qualys Global Network Vulnerability Scanning Platform

Redwood City, CA — June 26, 2001 — Qualys™, Inc., a leading provider of enterprise network vulnerability assessment and monitoring solutions, today announced that Mercury Interactive (Nasdaq: MERQ), the leading provider of enterprise testing and application performance management solutions, has selected the Qualys global network vulnerability scanning platform as a key component of its new ActiveTest™ SecureCheck™, a hosted security testing service. By integrating the Qualys platform into its service, Mercury Interactive will automatically and accurately scan and test their customer infrastructure via the Internet to detect and assess potential security exposures.

“We selected the Qualys platform because of its web hosted solution, which is highly automated, technically superior and easy to use and integrate. It allows Mercury Interactive to test customer applications and infrastructure, in order to pinpoint security related performance threats,” said Yuval Scarlat, president of Mercury Interactive’s managed services. “Remote online scanning is a powerful enabler of infrastructure security, working in perfect synergy with ActiveTest SecureCheck.”

Mercury Interactive’s ActiveTest SecureCheck combines Qualys-powered online scanning with Denial of Service simulation, device limit testing, security system testing under heavy user traffic, and real-time security consulting. Once launched, a Qualys-based scan graphically maps the targeted network, rapidly detects and describes network vulnerabilities, and suggests possible solutions. More than 1,000 vulnerability assessment signatures are used to identify and evaluate security risks.

To ensure that users are protected against the latest security threats, the Qualys platform is updated by Qualys with an average of ten new vulnerability detection signatures each week. The online Qualys vulnerability database is designed so that new vulnerability signatures can be added to the platform-and thus put to work on behalf of customers-immediately as new vulnerabilities emerge and are identified.

“The new online scanning model represents a vast improvement over previous-generation scanning technologies that require expensive network-based software, trained personnel, and user intervention to update,” said Philippe Courtot, Chairman and CEO of Qualys. “A leading provider of managed services, Mercury Interactive was able to easily and in a record time integrate the Qualys online scanning platform.”
