Leading Security Service Providers Embrace New-Generation Qualys Network Vulnerability Assessment Platform

eSecurityOnline LLC, Predictive Systems and Ubizen to incorporate Qualys-based services in their security offerings

San Francisco, CA — April 10, 2001 — Qualys, Inc., a leading provider of enterprise network vulnerability assessment and monitoring solutions, today announced strategic relationships with three of the world’s leading Managed Security Providers (MSPs). eSecurityOnline LLC, Predictive Systems and Ubizen have all embraced Qualys’s new-generation network vulnerability scanning platform in order to integrate customizable global network auditing services into their security offerings.

“The ability to work with these top security service providers is a major endorsement of the value of a flexible, scalable vulnerability assessment and monitoring platform,” said Phillipe Courtot, chairman and CEO of Qualys. “eSecurityOnline, Predictive Systems and Ubizen are breaking the mold by taking a proactive approach to discovering security risks and we are pleased to be helping them automate and transform the way network security is managed.”

The new-generation Qualys platform provides MSPs and other security professionals with the industry’s first distributed global architecture on which to base scalable, non-intrusive scanning services. An open application-programming interface (API) enables rapid integration of Qualys’ real-time scanning and vulnerability assessment capabilities into new and existing security offerings. The Qualys platform is designed to support small, targeted application modules, as opposed to presenting an inflexible monolithic set of features. This, along with the ability to scan for application-level as well as device-level vulnerabilities, makes it easy for Qualys partners to develop value added custom capabilities tailored to specific customer needs.

New wave of security services

The newest wave of offerings from these leading service provider’s leverage the Qualys scanning platform. eSecurityOnline, an Ernst & Young LLP Company, is using the Qualys platform to create and host a series of custom applications for automated online discovery scanning of enterprise networks, eCommerce systems, and large-scale websites. The resulting service (eSO Scan) integrates Qualys scanning technology with eSecurityOnline’s state-of-the-art operations center and extensive vulnerability database. Available now, eSO Scan is delivered through the eSecurityOnline portal (www.esecurityonline.com) for scheduled or ad hoc scanning and vulnerability reporting.

“eSO Scan is a component of the eSO Framework, which is a fully integrated set of online and managed services designed to help ensure optimum security,” said Robin Hutchinson, CEO for eSecurityOnline LLC. “Within eSO Scan there is an option for unlimited scanning which is powered by the Qualys scanning engine. eSecurityOnline’s partnership with Qualys has provided us the opportunity to meet a major milestone toward incorporating these types of engines into our products. These engines will provide an automated means of verifying that recommended configuration standards and vulnerability fixes have been applied to specific assets.”

The Predictive Systems’ Global Integrity Managed Services division is using Qualys to develop on-line scanning capabilities that extend Predictive Systems’ world-class ethical hacking services. Additionally, Qualys technology is an important component of Predictive Systems’ ongoing services for the insurance and credit card industries to provide detailed vulnerability scans. Predictive Systems is building on the Qualys platform to provide quick one-time checks, as well as detailed subscription-based scanning services.

“The flexibility and thoroughness of the Qualys scanning tools are well suited to extending Predictive Systems’ services,” said Ed Skoudis, vice-president of Security Strategy at Predictive Systems. “Qualys offers an impressive level of depth and intelligence in an automated scanning tool that we are leveraging for rapid service development.”

Ubizen, a top 10 e-Security firm worldwide, has integrated Qualys scanning technology to deliver OnlineGuardian Enterprise/VAM. The new service option is a component of OnlineGuardian Enterprise, Ubizen’s family of Managed Security Services, which provides remote management and monitoring of e-Security technologies 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Additionally, the Ubizen managed services team developed the SEAM software engine, which stores, processes and classifies proactive state information generated by the customer’s security elements.

“The selection of a real-time scanning and vulnerability assessment platform, was critical for Ubizen’s managed security services strategy,” said Dirk Peeters, executive vice-president Ubizen Managed Security Services. “The Qualys technology will enable Ubizen to provide continuous vulnerability assessment tests for Ubizen’s customers-a task that would otherwise be daunting and time consuming.”
