VeriSign Global Site Customers Offered Free 30-Day QualysGuard Service to Diagnose Online Network Security Risks
Redwood City, CA — June 12, 2000 — VeriSign, Inc. (Nasdaq:VRSN), the leading provider of Internet trust services, and Qualys, Inc., a leader in online network security services, today announced that VeriSign has integrated a free one-month subscription to Qualys’ new online security auditing service, QualysGuard, with VeriSign’s Global Site and Global Site Plus website service offerings. The QualysGuard service enables webmasters and network administrators to evaluate potential network security risks in real time over the Internet by graphically mapping network vulnerabilities and suggesting possible solutions, including links to patches. By offering this new service, VeriSign continues to enhance its Global Site and Global Site Plus website services, providing customers with the most complete set of secure e-commerce services available on the market today.
“As hackers become more sophisticated, businesses need powerful safeguards and diagnostic tools to analyze potential threats and vulnerabilities,” said Anil Pereira, Vice President of VeriSign’s Internet Services Group. “Through the integration of Qualys’ new network security audit service with our industrial-strength website offerings, customers can view their network topography from a hacker’s perspective in real-time, providing them with the ability to take the corrective action necessary to bolster their network defenses.”
The QualysGuard security auditing service continuously monitors and detects vulnerabilities in a customer’s network and assesses the level of severity of any security holes. The service was designed from the “ground up” as an online service, providing customers with a comprehensive security audit and risk assessment of their network each time the service is accessed. QualysGuard connects customers with the most up-to-date security tests available and provides a confidential graphical report setting forth the results of the scan, an assessment of any vulnerability found, and suggested solutions.
“Through this free new service, VeriSign’s Global Site and Global Site Plus customers can see for themselves how easy it is to continually monitor their networks and protect their information assets without having to deploy and maintain costly security auditing software,” said Gilles Samoun, CEO and President of Qualys. “We are pleased to partner with VeriSign to enable thousands of customers to take advantage of this new online security service, allowing them to immediately visualize and understand their network security vulnerabilities and take rapid corrective action.”
