Qualys Wins "Security Product of the Year" in the CNET Networks UK Technology Awards Programme

Award underscores the value that “Software-as-a-service” approach brings to Security

London — September 28, 2005 — Qualys, the leading provider of on-demand vulnerability management solutions, announced today that it has won “Security Product of the Year” in the CNET Networks UK Technology Awards.

The awards recognise innovation, application and excellence in technology and business in the UK across all sectors and technologies. The Awards Judging Council comprised senior practitioners and experts from the technology industry and media. Running for the third successive year, this awards programme received over three hundred entries this year. Other solutions short listed in the category “Security Product of the Year” came from Netintelligence, Scansafe, Avoco Secure and Centennial Software.

Philippe Courtot, CEO of Qualys, received the award in person at a gala dinner held last night at the Hilton in Park Lane and attended by over 550 industry professionals.

“This award demonstrates the growing success of our “software as a service” approach to vulnerability management. As networks become ever more interconnected, establishing security standards, implementing processes to identify vulnerabilities continuously and complying with regulations is becoming an absolute necessity. Increasingly organisations - small and large - are turning to a “Software as a Service” or on-demand solution to help them manage their network security. This removes the hurdles of installing and maintaining complex security applications across multiple locations.” Said Philippe Courtot, CEO of Qualys.

QualysGuard technology is entirely web-based and requires no costly installation or maintenance. Its ease of deployment and efficiency have contributed to a 90% increase in Qualys European sales over the last year. Many major blue chip organisations have chosen or deployed Qualys in this time including: Sony, ICI, Novartis, AXA, 3i, Baillie Gifford, Investec, Man Financial, Royal Mail Group, HMV, Burberry’s, Bank of Tokyo Mitsubishi Sodexho, Standard Chartered Bank, ARUP, The Financial Ombudsman and Mars. Worldwide Qualys now has more than 2,000 customers – 600 of these based in Europe and more than 250 Global 2,000 organisations.

Commenting on the award, Tom Bureau, Managing Director of CNET Networks UK, said “We are pleased to acknowledge the role that Qualys is playing in shaping the future of the security industry in the UK.”

This award is the third significant accolade Qualys has received in the UK this year. Qualys won the SC Magazine European Excellence award for “Best Small Business Security Solution” as well as the IDG Network Award 2005 for “Best Service of the Year for Network Protection”.
