Howard A. Schmidt, Former White House Cybersecurity Coordinator, Joins Qualys Board of Directors

Distinguished Global Authority on Internet Security and Critical Infrastructure to Bring Public Sector Expertise and Help Expand Industry Collaboration

REDWOOD CITY, Calif., June 26, 2012 – Qualys®, Inc., a pioneer and leading provider of cloud security and compliance solutions, today announced that Howard A. Schmidt will join the Qualys Board of Directors. Schmidt, with a distinguished career record spanning 40 years of experience in government, business and law enforcement, was appointed in December 2009 as President Obama’s White House Cyber-security Coordinator, from which he announced his retirement in May 2012. Now he joins the Qualys Board of Directors to lend his expertise and guidance to help the company expand its presence in the federal government and further build industry collaboration efforts through the CSO Interchange, which he co-founded with Philippe Courtot, chairman and CEO of Qualys, in May 2004.

Howard A. Schmidt has had a long distinguished career in defense, law enforcement and corporate security spanning more than 40 years, bringing with him experience in business, defense, intelligence, law enforcement, privacy, academia and international relations. Formerly the Special Assistant to the President and the Cyber-security Coordinator for the federal government, Schmidt was responsible for coordinating interagency cyber-security policy development and implementation and coordinated engagement with federal, state, local, international and private sector cyber-security partners.

Previously, Schmidt was the president and CEO of the Information Security Forum (ISF). Before ISF, he served as vice president and chief information security Officer and chief security strategist for eBay Inc. He also served in the position of chief security strategist for the US CERT Partners Program for the National Cyber Security Division, Department of Homeland Security.
