    Description
The Adobe Flash Player is free software for viewing multimedia, executing internet applications, and streaming video and audio content created on the Adobe Flash platform. Flash Player can run from a web browser (as a browser plug-in) or on supported mobile devices and directly on multiple operating systems.

Adobe Flash Player contains the following code execution vulnerabilities:
    - CVE-2014-0506: Use-after-free vulnerability in Adobe Flash Player 12.0.0.77 on Windows allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code and bypass an Internet Explorer sandbox protection mechanism via unspecified vectors, as demonstrated by VUPEN during a Pwn2Own competition at CanSecWest 2014.
    - CVE-2014-0510: Heap-based buffer overflow in Adobe Flash Player 12.0.0.77 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code and bypass a sandbox protection mechanism via unspecified vectors, as demonstrated by Zeguang Zhao and Liang Chen during a Pwn2Own competition at CanSecWest 2014.

    Affected Software:
Adobe Flash Player versions prior to 13.0.0.182.

    Consequence
Successful execution could allow an unauthenticated remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the targeted system.

    Solution
The vendor has released updates to fix the vulnerabilities. Refer to Adobe advisory APSB14-09 for further details. Workaround:
Users are advised to observe caution while opening email messages from suspicious or unrecognized sources.
If users cannot verify that links or attachments included in email messages are safe, they are advised not to open them.
Administrators are advised to contact the vendor about security updates for these vulnerabilities.

    Patches:
The following are links for downloading patches to fix these vulnerabilities:
APSB14-09 MAC OS X(Adobe Flash Player)
APSB14-09 Windows(Adobe Flash Player For IE)
APSB14-09 Windows(Adobe Flash Player For Non IE)

These new vulnerability checks are included in Qualys vulnerability signature 2.2.700-5. Each Qualys account is automatically updated with the latest vulnerability signatures as they become available. To view the vulnerability signature version in your account, from the Qualys Help menu, select the About tab.

Selective Scan Instructions Using Qualys

To perform a selective vulnerability scan, configure a scan profile to use the following options:

  1. Ensure access to TCP ports 135 and 139 are available.
  2. Enable Windows Authentication (specify Authentication Records).
  3. Enable the following Qualys IDs:
    • 121866
  4. If you would like the scan to return the Windows Hostname, also include QID 82044 and ensure access to UDP port 137 is available.
  5. If you would like to be notified if Qualys is unable to log on to a host (if Authentication fails), also include QID 105015.

In addition, prior to running a scan for these new vulnerabilities, you can estimate your exposure to these new threats by running the Risk Analysis Report, available from the Qualys Vulnerability Management Reports tab.
