IDG's InfoWorld Names Qualys' Gerhard Eschelbeck one of the "25 Most Influential CTOs" In 2002

InfoWorld’s December 9th Issue to Feature Leading Group of IT Executives

Redwood City, CA — December 3, 2002 — InfoWorld Media Group, the provider of in-depth analysis of enterprise technology and strategies through its integrated online, print, research and events channels, today announced the “25 Most Influential CTOs” - which includes Qualys™, Inc.’s CTO & vice president of engineering, Gerhard Eschelbeck. The list consists of an exemplary group of IT executives whose innovative accomplishments stand out despite a challenging economic landscape.

Eschelbeck is an internationally recognized security and distributed systems expert that was selected for his significant contributions to the Internet security industry, most notably in automation of security applications. Eschelbeck introduced automation to the antivirus industry at McAfee Associates, continued his development of automated security products at Network Associates, and most recently has automated the process of vulnerability assessment at Qualys.

Eschelbeck’s latest technology innovation, the design and implementation of the QualysGuard platform, leverages a foundation of automation to solve the biggest challenges in the vulnerability assessment category: immediate and up-to-date knowledge of vulnerabilities, high scalability of scanning and complete accuracy and reliability of network security audits. With the increasing sophistication and shortened lifecycle of attacks, automating and auto-provisioning vulnerability assessment is critical in fighting the threats that define today’s security climate.

Eschelbeck’s technological vision has led Qualys to become the leading provider of vulnerability assessment with a customer base of more than 750 companies. Qualys operates the largest database of known vulnerabilities, with more than 2000 to date.

The December 9th issue of InfoWorld features in-depth profiles of each honoree. These influential IT executives represent diverse industries that have helped their companies generate revenue, introduced strategic innovation, streamlined processes and infrastructure, and have developed influence both inside and outside their companies.
