Network Intelligence Integrates SEM Appliance with Qualys' On Demand Vulnerability Management Service

Available immediately, integration provides customers with real-time vulnerability and business risk assessment for more accurate network security

Westwood, MA and Redwood City, CA — June 28, 2004 — Network Intelligence™ Corp. and Qualys™, Inc. today announced the integration of Qualys’ on demand vulnerability service with the Network Intelligence Engine™ security event management (SEM) appliance. This integration provides customers with a far more accurate assessment of their network security posture and an actionable threat score by incorporating vulnerability data and business risk information from QualysGuard® within the Network Intelligence Engine’s real-time correlation. The QualysGuard integration is immediately available free of charge for all Network Intelligence Engine customers at qualys-support@network-intelligence.com.

“The ability to include correlated Qualys vulnerability assessment data with enterprise security event management activity within the Network Intelligence solution provides us with actionable intelligence capabilities,” said Christofer Hoff, CISO of WesCorp Federal Corporate Credit Union, a $25 billion dollar financial services cooperative and a customer of both Network Intelligence and Qualys. “The combination allows us to fully leverage our investment in the vulnerability and event management solutions from an integrated perspective, and we are able to more efficiently and effectively manage risk in a contextual and meaningful way. This solution provides a holistic perspective.”

Once launched, integration between the Network Intelligence Engine and QualysGuard requires no user support. The SEM system automatically imports security vulnerability data from QualysGuard, enabling customers to view correlated threat data in real time. Vulnerability data from QualysGuard is categorized by severity threat level, enabling the IT administrator to manage security threats and launch any supplementary defenses.

“One of the most significant challenges IT professionals face is attempting to immediately identify and protect their networks against new security threats, such as worms and viruses,” said Matt Stevens, president, Network Intelligence. “By integrating our SEM appliance with QualysGuard, customers have the peace of mind of knowing that their security system is ready to manage vulnerability information immediately, which is crucial for ensuring network security.”

Network Intelligence’s SEM solutions allow customers to achieve productivity and ROI gains by enabling them to more effectively leverage existing IT security systems. In 2003, Network Intelligence shipped a record-breaking 221 appliances, as more companies move towards implementing hardware-based SEM solutions. As part of the Network Intelligence Technology Alliance, Qualys is supporting efforts to provide customers with the most robust, scalable and flexible IT security solutions.
